Het project “Rooting Point” wil de aandacht vragen van een breder publiek voor de cultuur van Belarus en strategieën om ver van huis je eigen identiteit te bewaren. Het is een samenwerking van 3 kunstenaars met Belarussische roots, van wie elk haar eigen wortels ontdekt op haar eigen manier, in de context van immigratie, de ongekende repressie in Belarus en de oorlog in buurland Oekraïne. Lena Davidovich, Julia Mekes en Tasha Arlova benaderen de materie door middel van verschillende media met elk een eigen beeldtaal, met als doel de Belarussische cultuur en identiteit te versterken. De tentoonstelling is te bezoeken in Arti en Amicae van 10 tot en met 21 juli.

WORKSHOPS
Op maandag 17 juli om 17:30 organiseert Halina Mihutskaya een workshop “Van Verloren naar Gevonden: Het Ontdekken van Persoonlijke Kracht.” De workshop verkent zelfexpressie door middel van lichamelijke beweging en ontsluit het verborgen potentieel en onaangeboorde kennis van het lichaam en de geest. De workshop biedt de mogelijkheid om diep in jezelf te duiken en nieuwe dimensies van zelfexpressie te ontdekken. Het bestaat uit een opwarmingsessie waarbij deelnemers barrières loslaten en contact maken met anderen, gevolgd door lichamelijke improvisatie om verborgen innerlijke zelf te ontmoeten en toegang te krijgen tot het inherente geheugen van het lichaam. De voertaal van de workshop is Engels. Registratie is vereist en er is een maximum aantal deelnemers van 20 personen. Meld je aan via onderstaande link.

Op donderdag 20 juli om 17:00 houdt Julia Mekes een workshop waarin deelnemers in de mysterieuze en altijd inspirerende wereld van geometrische symbolen duiken. Onder Julia’s leiding breken deelnemers de code van duizenden jaren oude symbolen en gebruiken die om een nieuwe boodschap te schrijven en een nieuwe versie van de werkelijkheid te creëren. Sjabloneren zal de voornaamste techniek zijn die wordt toegepast. Kosten voor deelname zijn 15 euro, alle materialen zijn inbegrepen. Registratie verplicht. Maximaal aantal deelnemers 10 personen. The project “Rooting Point” aims to attract the attention of a wider audience to the culture of Belarus and strategies to preserve your own identity far away from home. It is a collaboration of three artists with Belarusian origin, each of whom is rediscovering her roots in her own way, in connection with immigration, the unprecedented repressions in Belarus itself, and the war in neighbouring Ukraine. Lena Davidovich, Julia Mekes and Tasha Arlova address the matter through different media and visual languages with the intention to support Belarusian culture and identity. The exhibition will be open in Arti en Amicitiae from July 10 to July 21.

WORKSHOPS
On Monday July 17 at 17:30, Halina Mihutskaya hosts a workshop “From Lost to Found: Unearthing Personal Power.” It explores self-expression through bodily movement, unlocking hidden potential and untapped knowledge of the body and mind. The workshop offers a chance to delve deep into oneself, discovering new dimensions of self-expression. It consists of a warm-up session for participants to release barriers and connect with others, followed by bodily improvisation to encounter hidden inner selves and tap into the body’s inherent memory. The language of the workshop is English. Registration is required. The maximum number of participants is 20 people.

On Thursday July 20 at 17:00 Julia Mekes will conduct a workshop, where the participants will plunge into mysterious and eternally inspiring world of the geometric symbols. Under Julia’s supervision one can break the code of the thousands’ year old symbols and use them in order to write their new message. Stencilling will be the main technique offered.
