Vanaf 17 maart is er op de bovenzalen van Arti et Amicitiae de tentoonstelling Pop Life te zien. Pop Life richt zich op hedendaagse tekeningen en hoe de menselijke vorm wordt afgebeeld door middel van de taal van de populaire cultuur.
De tentoonstelling toont een diverse groep van dertien gerenommeerde Nederlandse en internationale kunstenaars, elk geselecteerd vanwege hun aanhoudende bijdrage aan het hedendaagse tekenen en een zeer individuele benadering van de weergave van de menselijke vorm. Ze omarmen allemaal een of andere vorm van illustratie, een term die in de kunstwereld vaak in diskrediet wordt gebracht, en nemen aspecten van hoge en lage cultuur in hun werk op.
De kunstenaars verwijzen in hun werk naar film, televisie, popmuziek, strips, romans, reclames en hedendaagse vormen van sociale media, en zetten traditionele popcultuur mythes om in persoonlijke verklaringen over geschiedenis, feminisme, koloniale macht, politiek, identiteit, schoonheid en verschillende andere existentiële vragen .
Er worden ruim zestig tekeningen gepresenteerd. Speciaal voor de tentoonstelling zijn een aantal nieuwe tekeningen gemaakt.

From March 17 on, Arti et Amicitiae is presenting Pop Life.
The exhibition Pop Life focuses on contemporary drawing and how the human form is depicted through the language of popular culture.
The exhibition showcases a diverse group of thirteen, well-established Dutch and international artists, each selected for their sustained contribution to the act of contemporary drawing and a highly individual approach to the depiction of the human form. They all embrace some form of illustration, a term often disparaged in the art world, and incorporate aspects of high and low culture in their work. Referencing cinema, television, popular music, cartoons, novels, online advertising and contemporary forms of social media, contributors supplant traditional pop culture narratives into personal statements about history, feminism, colonial power, politics, identity, beauty and various other forms of existential questioning.
Over sixty drawings will be presented. The images are all descriptive. None of the works are studies for either paintings or sculptures and all are finished drawings in their own right. Particular attention is paid to the scale of the pieces – many are large – and how the work often borders or incorporates other mediums. A number of new drawings have been created specifically for the exhibition.
