The conscious Tinder experience is a workshop by the artist/choreographer David Bloom on performing desire and desirability.
Sexuality and Desire are omnipresent in advertising, entertainment, and corporate capitalism in general, but the image presented of what is desired and desirable is often fairly far removed from most people’s authentic interests. This workshop is an attempt to bring into focus the gap between how we perform our sexual being in the digital age, and our actual connections to those around us. Drawing on David Bloom’s experience from years of practicing Conscious Sexuality such as Tantra & BDSM, as well as performance and choreography, we will be breathing, working somatically, and diving into improvisational scores based on desire as well as our projections.
During this workshop, participants will also engage in discussion on how presentation, identity, desire, and erotic energy all intersect and inform each other, as well as how authentic uncensored desire can be used as a tool to create artistic work.
David Bloom was born in Heidelberg, Germany, to a family from New York, NY. Has been playing the piano professionally for 19 years, including a stint at the bar Marie’s Crisis in NYC. He received his dance education mainly at HfMdK in Frankfurt and is a graduate of Barbara Carellas’ “Urban Tantra” Training Program. Bloom was a member of the dance ensemble at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, and has collaborated on projects by Marco Santi, Michaël d’Auzon, Nir de Volff/Total Brutal, Micha Purucker, Ingo Reulecke, Canan Erek, Friederike Plafki, Felix Ruckert, & Tino Sehgal. Since graduating from the M.A. Choreography course at HZT Berlin, he has been focusing mainly on his own work, including Die Heilige und die Hure, a solo for Felix Ruckert, and enemy, an interactive sauna dance piece. His dance Film Quintet premiered at Berlin’s Porn Film Festival in 2013, followed by Sonata in 2015. Bloom is the recipient of a 2012 danceWEB scholarship, and returned to the ImPulsTanz festival to teach in 2015 & 2016
The workshop will take place Friday 2nd from 14.00 to 18.00 and on Saturday 3rd June from 12.00 to 16.00 in Jacuzzi Studio as part of FLAM festival.
